The beginning of the reed making process can heavily influence the following stages, such as gouging and profiling. The idea behind this tool is to avoid an uneven gouge/profile that could be caused by curvatures.

Whilst it is inevitable that curvatures will appear in almost every piece of tube cane, the tool with help highlight exactly where the curvature begins. This will help when guillotining the piece to length as you will be able to select the straightest piece possible.

How it works

-The tool create a path that only allows straight pieces through

-When a curved piece is put through, the cane will push against the wall of the path.

-You can mark this area with a pencil and remove during the guillotining process.

-The tool can be used for both tube and split cane (however tube cane is recommended)
